Like so many of you, I have no idea why I am fascinated with that day in Montana but I am. So far, I have made the ten thousand mile round trip from Scotland four times. (I have similarly idiotic friend and an understanding wife). I will never forget the feeling of sitting at the Crow's Nest, looking over the Little Bighorn valley. Simply stunning. Since my first visit in 1993, I have made many friends and have never been made to feel so welcome in my life. My last trip was in September 2006 and my feet are beginning to itch....I feel a cold beer in Billings coming on.

Och aye, Jock - welcome to the boards. We need a few more Scots here [and definitely some more scotch, although I'm a beer man myself]. If you can wait until 2010, I'll meet you and you can buy me a beer .
Check out Big Gordie's Big Jaunt for more or less details, which will be augmented as the months pass. Europe first, though, next year - if you're anywhere near Edinburgh, there's a chance we might be able to hook up - I haven't yet decided [or budgeted] that far ahead.
Since you've made so many friends and met so many nice people, you need to meet some of the other kind, and I'll serve as a fine example of those.

Thanks, Gordie. There's a church in Edinburgh which has a plaque dedicated to Stuart Forbes McDonald who died at the Little Bighorn. There's also a very nice pub across the road...
