I'm Chief Judge of Tribal Court here on my little Chippewa Res., my dad was the Chippewa, but my mother was a Mdewakanton Dakota (Wabashas Band) so for my first 35 years I was enrolled as a Santee Sioux, NEB. I guess I'm the result of sleeping with the enemy. Although I have maintained a life long interest in BLH, my real historical interests run toward the Minnesota Uprising, as well as the participation of the L. Superior tribes individual members participation in the Civil War, a significant number. I don't want to leave the whole war to Gen.Stand Watie.(sic)

Welcome to the boards, yer awner. There are any number of "experts" here in the fields of NA history and personalities, The ACW, frontier times and wars and etc etc. You'll likely find several to discuss the Minnesota Uprising with you, who will pick your brain and maybe proffer some new information to you. Since that's not one of my "strong points"........................
Check out the relevant boards and start a new thread [it's easy], if you don't see one, to encourage contacts. I'll wager that you get plenty of responses.
Again, welcome.
Gordie, every day we learn more how to hate, and still we tell ourselves we can't relate - only to the ones who are the same, yet even they are different, and everso it shall remain. All are brothers, all are friends, all are strangers...............................................................

I also bid you welcome, Sir.
As Gordie said, you will find a number of impressivly knowledgeable people here... but alas, I am not one of them. However, now that there is a known Chief Judge present.. I promise to behave myself a little better.
Welcome again,
Michael

But only a little, right Michael?
Gordie, looking like the model on the cover of a magazine - she's too cute to be a minute over seventeen...

Firstly a warm welcome to these boards. For the most comprehensive data base of information on the ACW you need 'The War of Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies' for which there may well be a website. You might also try 'The Union Indian Brigade in the Civil War' by Wiley Britton. Good Luck Hunk
