Howdy, I am Montana born and bred (Bab) too many years ago to count. I've always been proud of my home state and its history, but most especially the LBH. I visited the battlefield as a youngster and I'm sure it has changed immensly. I have only recently begun an earnest research on the battle and the Soldiers and Native Americans involved. And I was very lucky to find this website. I have enjoyed the arguments here the most I think, and am amazed that people still have such strong feelings over this battle. But what I enjoy even more are the pictures of those who participated and their stories. I will become a real pain to you all because I have such a thirst for knowledge, and before I lay this old body down, I hope to know more and more ! I thank you all for sharing my passion for history, and wonderment of the past. Every single individual who was there left a print, and right or wrong, they made us what we are today. I don't think they died in vain, any of them, even though it was a tragedy. Hope to visit with each of you at times, and thank you for this site! Bab * I'm old enough to know nothing, and I learned it all the hard way !~!

Montana--
I used to save stuff like this for the more maudlin dogs among us, then I discovered I was one of them. Welcome.
Best wishes, Fred.

Thank you, Fred, I guess you could call me a "maudlin puppy' because I'm not the most learned of the litter, but I have a feeling before I'm done with this website, I'll know a thing or two !

Gordie, I had gotten worried seeing that Fred had taken over your role as official greeter!
Thanks be that it was a wasted worry.
Be good,
Billy

Thank you, Gordie, but at my age I will probably just slide off into the wild blue yonder, and none of you will even miss me, or know I was even here ! But one thing's for sure, I'll be smarter for having been here !!!! Explain where you got your screen name. I'm curious ! One thing I will be remembered for is that I am nosy, and always asking questions !

Here we go w/ the age business again. In that category, I outrank all of you. Except maybe Markland, aka, Claw. He just turned 96.
And no, I don't want the role as official greeter. Gordie does much too good a job. I'll be the official geezer.
Best wishes, Geezer

BAB:
Despite Fred's protestations, he is actually younger than I.
The "Harpskiddie" comes from exhortations given during my younger days as a ballplayer. My Surname is Harper, and I was often called Harps in hockey and baseball. In those days [of long ago- the 50s], it was common for players to encourage each other with "Hum it in there baby" or "give it a ride." The Harpskiddie comes from the latter - "Give it a ride, Harpskiddie!!!"
And occasionally I did, very occasionally.
Gordie

Harpskiddie, (love that moniker) The 50's huh ?? Well, then, there, now, that makes both Fred and you younger than I. AND THAT'S THE LAST I'LL SAY ON THAT ISSUE !! BAB
