Fort Robinson State Park is on Highway 20, about three miles east of Crawford, Nebraska.
The fort started as a military camp in 1874. Crazy Horse surrended at Fort Robinson in 1877 and was mortally wounded there.
Its museum has a very knowledgeable staff and is highly recommended!

Laurie and I visited Fort Robinson yesterday and were amazed at the level of preservation in the old military post and the museums there. One of the most interesting things about Fort Robinson is that a person can actually get lodging there in many of the old military quarters! The State of Nebraska has a large amount of the old housing arranged for this to serve conferences. They even have at least one of the old barracks set up for this same purpose.
