Good news for Brits, or for anyone planning a trip to London next year: a musical version of Gone With the Wind is due to open at the New London Theatre in April 2008.
No news on casting or anything yet, and I don't know anything about the adapter (a Margaret Martin -- ring any bells?) but it's to be directed by Trevor Nunn and designed by John Napier, two of our absolutely top names. So there's a sporting chance that it could be good!

They'll have to be careful with that Burning of Atlanta bit, or change theaters after every show.
Gordie, the weatherman says "Clear today" - he doesn't know you've gone away, and it's raining, raining in my heart.........................................

A musical??? I can't imagine it.
A little LBH trivia: GWTW author Margaret Mitchell's brother was married to one of Fred Benteen's granddaughters.
