I can't remember if I've ever posted this, but here it is. About six years ago I visited the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody. There was this huge painting there of the LBH in a form I've never seen before by an artist named Allan Mardon from Arizona. I hope this comes up large on the screen. If you look carefully, he covered most aspects of the battle. In an email to me, he said he read Fox's book and took much of his inspiration from it. He has a web site that I'll try to attach that shows his other western art. This particular piece just jumps out at you in person: www.allanmardon.com/art/B0013.jpgClick on "prints" and you can see some of his work. www.allanmardon.com/print_main.html

BB--
That is one fantastic piece of art--kind of like Grandma Moses meets Ledger Art. The use of color is really, really well done--almost looks like something from Sienna; 13-14th Century icon-ish. It's quite folky and primitive ... nice stuff!
Thanks for bringing it to our mutual attentions! --t.

Yeah, Tricia, it's really cool to see in person. You can stare at it forever examining it to see what all aspects of the battle are in the painting.
