All- Stackpole books has printed and made available several books on military drill, cavalry tactics, and manuevers, as well as military protocol. There were originally printed before and during the civil war, but as far as I know were still in use during the indian war period. The books range in price from between $15 to around $22, and are a pretty handy resource if you are interested in that type of stuff. you can find them at: www.stackpolebooks.com(under the history section, in American civil war)

Another excellent source for books (new/used) is: www.powells.comClick the "Browse" column, go to military, then go to Indian Wars. Great selection!

Nope never been there . . . but I always check out the site for anything new. I've gotten a number of used books that were in excellent condition and much cheaper than the new version.
