Yes, John had mentioned last year that Greene was doing a book which would utilize a number of accounts from the Winners of the West magazine.
Many thanks for the heads-up!

Upton's are putting out a Winners of the West book as well, due out in the summer, so it'll be interesting to compare the two.

Greene's book is now out. I wandered into a Oklahoma City Borders store Saturday and found the one copy (that they had left or that they had ordered, I don't know.)
Anyway, it is great reading-although I have been side-tracked by the book "Halsey's Typhoon."

Has anyone else noticed the difference in books carried on the shelves between Borders and Barnes and Noble. As of yesterday B&N didn't even have the book online. Borders has it in stock and online. Online it is substantially less costly than off the shelf.

We don't have Borders down here, just B&N and Books-a-Million. I enjoy the layout of B&N better, but you can't beat B-a-M's periodicals section!

D O--
You know something? That has been a bug-a-boo of mine for years, but I thought it was just me. I used to go to a Borders in Mt. Kisco, NY, and they had some really good stuff. I bought a bunch of WWII-- what I call "specialty"-- books that I couldn't even believe existed. I replaced all my old, missing Paul Carell books, and I can't tell you how many others. I found the Viola book, Little Bighorn Remembered at Borders, and a lot of other good ones, as well. I have never found that many decent books at B&N. I went in to buy the new Rupert Smith book at the B&N down here-- the SW Florida intellectual wasteland-- and they didn't even have it. Amazon was already discounting the damn thing. There's a new book on Descartes that I wanted; B&N didn't have that, either; even a couple on Hannah Arendt... nothing; but I found them all on Amazon. They did have coffee, however. All this is a brand-spanking new "regional" mall. Tsk, tsk!
Best wishes, Fred.

Speaking of Jerry Greene . . . .
I just had someone ask me about his Slim Buttes book. I'm not familiar with it. Has anyone read it? If so, would you recommend it? Is it great, good, so-so?
