Conquest of the Missouri by Joseph Hanson Mills -- about Grant Marsh, captain of the Far West.
Has anybody read this? In theory it ought to tell us quite a bit about the conferences on the boat, and possibly about that alleged June 21st poker/drink/singing session; plus about Curley's arrival with the bad news; and the ferrying of the wounded back to Fort Lincoln. If so, it should be a great source. But Amazon hasn't got a "search inside" facility available for this book ... so I'd be most grateful if anyone could tell me whether it is worth getting or not!
