Are there any good, solid biographies of Benteen out there? My husband could only think of one, and it's been a long time since he read it.
Is there any published author who supports Benteen with the same conviction as Ron Nichols defends Reno?

Harvest of Barren Regrets by Charles K. Mills is supposedly a great book on Benteen. I say supposedly as I have not read it -- it's on the expensive side. Ron Nichols at Broken Arrow Books has a couple of copies listed starting at $225.00. I seem to remember Sandy Barnard had a copy at LBHA for a price in the $150-$180 range.

I have the book and it's one of the most boring history books I've ever read -- it was soooooo boring that I couldn't even finish it. I think it is a good reference book, but it was not written to read cover to cover.

Bought a copy of HARVEST OF BARREN REGRETS, like new in slipcover, about 15 years ago for $45.
I love buying good books -- they never lose their value.
I think my collection has tripled and even quadrupled in value.

I had Harvest of Barren Regrets at one time and it was not that interesting. And I have searched for other biographies of Benteen because I kind of like him out of all the other folks who participated in this two day ordeal. He just seems to be very up front and plain dealing about everything. I could be wrong. It has happened many many times. But that book is the only biography that I know of about him.

That's the one Chuck mentioned, so I guess that's all there is. Thanks, everyone!
