The title is actually, Indian Fights: New Facts on Seven Encounters.
Vaughn was a distinguished western historian who was a pioneer in the use of the metal detector to find Indian Wars sites and evidence. The seven encounters featured here are:
-Cheyenne Fork on the Bozeman Trail -Fetterman's Battle (a new look and one of the finest syntheses <sp> of the conflicting evidence I have read) -The Hayfield Fight -The Rosebud Campaign -Maj. Reno's Valley Skirmish Lines -The Burning of Heck Reel's Wagon Train -The Buckskin Lodge at Slim Buttes
The U. of Oklahahoma Press rereleased it in 2002 so you should be able to obtain a copy through Amazon, Barnes & Noble or directly from the U. of O. Press itself.
Best of wishes,
Billy

Great book, Billy. Vaughn is one of the long lost heroes of the study of the LBH and Indian Wars. It was Vaughn who found evidence of Reno’s skirmish line – back in the 50s. It would’ve been found someday, but I believe that was an exceptional feat 50 decades ago.
Merry Christmas Billy and to everyone on the board.
It’s a beautiful day up at LBH when checking out the webcams today – wish I were up there taking more photos.

This was the first Indian Wars book that I ever bought. Great to see it back in print.

Thank you for reminding me - I need a new copy. Lost mine some years ago. Vaughn was a pioneer and an unsung hero of research.
