Elizabeth: I've looked through this book and read the section on the LBH. Unless you have no knowledge of the Indian Wars or great last stands, then this book will be nothing but a total rehash of the same old thing that's been written over and over. Only difference is a great novelist writes it.
I love McMurtry’s work -- my favorite novel of all time (that I've read) is "Lonesome Dove", however, I wish he had written another Gus and Call book instead of this new massacre book.

Thanks, Bob -- useful.
Sometimes a novelist can bring a fresh eye to history, but maybe not in this case. Whoopee!! A book I DON'T have to buy!!
By the way, two books I've ordered -- "The Curse of Destiny" by Romain Wilhelmsen, and "Last Ride" by [author forgotten] -- have apparently just come into the shop, so they'll be my Christmas reading. I'll report ...
