The following is an excerpt from an article about crafts made for a Christmas tree. I'm bringing it to your attention in case someone is trying to track all known references to Indian deaths at LBH. This one will be difficult to figure out unless you know who Ben's grandmother was. Taking down a medallion he made, Ben Spirit Track, 61, of Santee, Neb., turns it over in his hands. He learned beading and other crafts while being raised by his grandmother, who died at more than 100 years old. . . .
". . . My grandmother lost her first husband in the Battle of Little Bighorn," Spirit Track says, replacing the medallion on the tree. He's been making items for the tree since it started a decade ago.
His dad is a Yankton Sioux, and his mom a Rosebud Sioux. "So I'm a full blood - they were both full blood," he said. "That's important to me." Article: www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071222/LIFE/712220310/1004
