Another voice in the ongoing debate over mascots and logos: I am a Native American. I have Algonquin blood, Chippewa, as well as being a tribal member of the Assiniboine Nation at Fort Peck, Mont.
One of my great-uncles was Red Dog, as my family’s oral history states. He fought in the battle of Little Big Horn. I take tremendous pride in my warrior, brave and Indian ancestry. Article: www.forestgrovenewstimes.com/opinion/story.php?story_id=119385529539763300

I have a Red Dog on the 1889 census of all males on Standing Rock who is 45 years old. which would of made him around 32 years old at the time of the Little Big Horn. It is a fact that many of the warriors of the Little Big Horn ended up at Fort Peck. After returning back from Canada many stay or left behind at fort peck.
