Charlie would like to know if anyone can identify the Indian Chiefs in this image of the Sioux and Arapaho delegation, 1860.

The photograph is one of four known, taken by famed Washington D.C. photographer Mathew Brady in October 1877. Photographs of the Oglala and Brule delegation for that year were also taken by Charles Bell and by one of the Ulke brothers. There is also a large photograph of the entire delegation taken at the Corcoran Gallery, attributed to Alexander Gardner.
In the back row, standing, from left to right: Little Big Man, Big Road, Young Man Afraid of His Horses, Three Bears, and interpreter William Garnett (also known as Billy Hunter).
Seated in front row, from left to right: Red Cloud, Little Wound, Yellow Bear, Iron Crow and He Dog.
Please note that the 1877 delegation included Oglala, Brule and Arapaho leaders. In this image, however, all of the individuals are Oglala. In fact, this represents the entire delegation from the Red Cloud Agency except one person -- American Horse.

The above is the source of the portrait posted on the first page and is meant to be the Sans Arc White Bull, although I suspect it's a later photo if it is.

Hey folk,to reply#3: I´m sure that the man in the Glenbow photo is Fast Thunder. Compare Big Mane and Fast Thunder in the delegation photo. The photo is to find in the book "Eyewitness at Wounded Knee". Another photo with Big Mane and Fast Thunder is in The Library of Congress.

Here's Fast Thunder - I think taken during the same delegation visit (in Bell's studio) as the one of Big Mane above.
