Someone sent this to me some time ago and I never got around to addressing it.
"George "fatty" Williams- 7th cavalry...with 7th Cavalry in 1873. Wounded at LBH. signed to play professional baseball in 1877."
I can't find any listing of the guy in the 7th at LBH...anyone heard of this guy....or is he out in left field? enlisted under a different name?

I checked the known aliases, and no one used Williams. The closest real name is William C. Williams. He enlisted in 1873 and was wounded in the hilltop fight. Perhaps "George" is his later alias. Or perhaps the guy who wrote to you just wants an acknowledgement in your next book!

....or is he out in left field? I just noticed that -- funny! You guys will do anything to discuss baseball. I just checked the William C. Williams bio in Men with Custer. Not him.
