Hello
I wonder if someone could give me interesting informations (jobs, battles, date of death and everything unusual) about some people of the 7th cavalry AFTER Little Bighorn...
I know that Giovanni Martini became responsible for tickets of a tramway and I wonder if somebody has informations like that about other men of the 7th cavalry like
Private Jean-Baptiste Gallenne Private Peter Thompson Captain Thomas McDougall Lieutenant Luther Hare Private O'Neil Lieutenant DeRudio
Thanks

CSS...Interesting question. McDougall, Hare and De Rudio all remained in the service until their retirement. McDougall rose to rank of Major, died 1909. Hare rose to rank of Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, fought in Spanish American War, died 1929....Hare was somewhat a mute fella and said very little about the battle..but his testimony at the Reno Inquiry is insightful....wish he had spoken more about it in his later years. O'Neil became a Washington, D.C. policeman and retired as such. Don't know much about the others, other than what is listed on LBHA listing. There is of course, a lot on DeRudio, he was quite an open character.
I have to wonder if there aren't some great accounts on the battle by these fellas stuffed away in some archive somewhere. What is the most recent discovery of such?
Saw a Road Show Antiques show a while back and someone had a FULL TRUNK of one of the Seventh's privates belongings....didn't catch all of it and haven't seen it repeated since. Did anyone see this episode of RSA?
