Diane; this is not a school mascot. The Wyoming Cavalry (and they spelled it right!!!) is professional indoor football team, playing in the National Indoor Football League (similar to the Arena Football league). I checked out the team website and they have a link to the mascot....unfortunately it just says the mascot will be introduced on March 25th and that the name will be kept secret until then. Eventually they will update the site and we can get a look. Or we can take in a game and see firsthand.

Thanks, Steve. I just looked at the story again, and you are right about it being a pro football team. Let's hope they did the General justice!

Diane, the mascot is a coyote named "Custer"...the article mentions this and you can get a bried glimpse of him on the wyomingcavalry.com website; shown in the video box. Sorry, no likeness of the General. They could have at least made the mascot a horse; but a coyote?? What does a coyote have to do with the cavalry???

He's not particularly attractive, but I guess we should be happy that something is named for Custer these days. Thanks for keeping me straight, Steve! You've proved that I shouldn't skim articles. ;D
