Osprey's in it's "Little Big Horn 1876" Campaign series on page #65 quotes General Edgerly as saying:
" We could see the bodies of Custer's men and horses with swarms of Indians".
Since I read the Reno COI testimony before the Osprey book, I believed the "...dust, smoke and Indians shooting at ground" testimony. And am a bit shocked by what appears to be perjury.
The quote has no citation of date or source, does anyone recognize it?

I usually like Osprey's books; while not very indepth, they tend to be written by genuine historians. This does however not seem familiar to me. But, by definition, the men from L and C men around Calhoun (which he probably saw) were "GACs men" since they were among the five companies he took. Does Osprey have a referance to the quote? A year or anything? All the best, Noggy

Thanks folks,
I picked up the Osprey mainly for maps, they're pretty good with them. My eyes bugged out when I read the quote. No attributions, no footnotes, de nada.
That part of the Jstor quote certainly looks like what Osprey's writer used. I'm going to look for a copy the magazine it appears to be from.
My thanks to you both for taking the time to give me a hand.
