Can anyone direct me to well-respected sources that corroborate that more words have been written about Custer than any other American besides Lincoln, and that no battle has had more books written about it than Little Bighorn? Or something along these lines?
My professor doesn't care for the sources that I have cited.
Thanks.

Or something along these lines? My professor doesn't care for the sources that I have cited. Thanks. Well, first of all I am not sure any of those two claims are true. Or at the very least, they are not specific enough; do you mean in the entire world, or just in the US? If the first, then I would say "no way". If the second, then it is probably in the contest. I would guess it would stand bettween LBH, Gettysburg, D-Day and the Alamo. But finding a precise number for books about each battle is probably impossible. The older battles may have had several, small published books long forgotten and never catalogued. From memory, the thing I remember coming closest to what you ask about is that Custer apparantly was the second-most photographed person in the US in the 1870s: www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-frederick-douglass-photographed-american-19th-century It is if true quite a feet (not deserved imo), when he was "competing" against Lincoln and Whitman. All the best, Noggy

I'm inclined to agree with Noggy. Having said that, being the smart ass that I am I would have to ask. So Prof, what are your sources to refute my assertion, would be cite them? This though assumes, that you are not overly concerned about your grade.
Good luck.
