Incorrect, he said: Brings packs of mice. . Come quick, be quick, come on, big coprosomething.
PS Mind the Coprolites, they side with the Sythians and have an eager temper.

Glad I started drinking early, while splitting wood, or I would not have been able to follow the last several posts. I had dinner last night with several Hittites, the conversation was Babble so I am up to speed with the above.

Tom, Think of it as whimsy, nothing more than some fun. Best, c.
And apologies to Mr. Powell who started the thread.

Only the olde remember the Ennui fight (aka the Battle of Boredoom). It wasn't Sythians though; it was Pythagokoreans of the Hypoteneuce. Yeah, well, I guess that makes me really olde! We had a whole camp of Korean Pythags down the road from our base camp in Vietnam. They were barbaric... got their names from the way they built their latrines: up, rather than down. Always aiming at something!! Best wishes, Fred.

It has become readily apparent to me that you all have been listening to all too much Borodin, particularly the fantasy sequence from Prince Igor and the Plovisian Dances. If all this continues unabated, I will be forced to remove you all from the invitation list to the Joan of Arc stake burning reenactment in my backyard tomorrow, immediately followed by the Annual Colorado Centre (note the English spelling. Who says we don't have a bit of class here in the west) Chili Cook Off, and pin the tail on the donkey tournament.

Ok you guys I said advance guard, I think someone mentioned it either from this thread or the other shop over yonder and it stuck, it was foolish of me and I should have known better, anyway besides that let me try and elaborate what I was trying to say;
Now Bill (Keogh) I know that you pop over here from time to time so this is for you, now just say for instance that you have sent Clair down the valley with a direct order to attack and you were going to support him, right have you got that… now you then go to the right and over the bluffs and after a while you pop your head up over the top of a nearby hill and see Clair getting forced into a tree line by hundreds of Indians, now how are you going to support him? You have a line of bluffs and a river between you and him, if you go forward he is toast, if you back track and try to move up the valley you might (and I mean might) just be able to help cover what was left as they retreat back towards you.
Now I am speculating with that story but… once Reno got into trouble, and say Custer arrived a bit later in time to see this from 3411, could he have done anything to help him? I don’t think so because of the terrain and distance, so he could not support him.
Ian.

Ian, You really have to see the LBH area. About terrain and distance, I'd read a lot but never fully appreciated 'til I experienced it. You'd have to envision the tree line etc. for obvious reasons.
Once I win the lottery here, you and yours get a free trip.
Rats, now I have to buy a ticket!
Best, c.

Closer to Woodlawn, I think Chuck, could easily find that, for an officer he seems to have a fair sense of direction. I think Babble Lawn is a tad bit closer to Ian, all he would have to do is go through the tunnel, take the O. Express, and finally catch a camel the rest of the way.

Consider this: LTC Custer does not move north after 3411. He waits for the two trail battalions to close up.
The net result will be more survivors. Reno Bn will still be defeated in the valley since they received no support.
LBH will still be GACs last battle. The Reno Bn defeat by itself is one of the worst defeats in the Indian Wars. The cause of the defeat is having such a small force attack an enemy that outnumbers them more than 15 to 1 with no support.
Elliot and his detachment died at Washita with little blame on Custer. Elliot had moved with out orders. Custer can not claim that this time. Reno was defeated because he obeyed the orders that GAC gave him.

You have been streaming WQXR, our marvelous public, ex- New York Times, classical radio station in New York City. Good job! I have it on all day. My absolutely Borodin piece is "In the Steppes of Central Asia." Hauntingly magnificent! I love it. Best wishes, Prince Igor.
