Not sure if this is the right discussion board but just wondering if the Crow's Nest is accessible to visit. I can see it on Google Earth but not sure if one needs special permission? Thanks in advance, Eric

The situation seems to be fluid. I first attempted to visit the Crow Nest in 2006 and hired a well-known guide with an excellent background. I told him I wanted to travel from Busby to the LBH, per the route taken by the 7th. I did not discuss this in any great detail with the man and was disappointed in the outcome. The route we were taken over from Busby went up not Davis Creek but Thompson and eventually led to the divide between Davis and Reno Creeks. This was explained as, in the guide's opinion, the more likely route of the unit, an opinion I believe not widely held. Further, we were told that the Crow Nest was not accessible due to reluctance of the land owner to allow access. In 2008 I tried again with another guide and greater success. This time we followed Davis Creek to the divide and were able to visit the Crow Nest. This second guide mentioned the property owner is particular about who they allow access. lbha.proboards.com/thread/3163/crow-nest-8-08lbha.proboards.com/thread/3216/crow-nest-8-08-2My advice is, don't try to get there on your own. You'd be trespassing and as fragile as the surrounding grasslands are there's good reason for the land owners to protect their rights. There are various guides, probably going to cost you about $300 for the day; worth it if you land with the right guy. This can all be researched on the web and just be sure you know where your guide can go and where he can't. In any case, to proceed directly to the west down Reno Creek from the divide is not possible. No one gets on that land, so you'll have to detour and reconnect with Reno further down. Unless things have changed; as I said it' fluid.
