Steve: Do you happen to have simplified weapons data in sufficient detail to where a total unit range fan could be constructed in scale? If so would you forward it to Ian, via PM, or PM him for an e-mail address.

Hi Dan you are right; each Troop had mounts of a similar colour, for some reason I just forgot all about that. I would think that this scheme of mounting each Troop on different coloured horses could be for tactical reasons rather than just pretty parade ground marching, if a Commander was overlooking his Regiment on the field of battle, he could determine which Troop was were and who was the Commander.
I believe it was a Napoleanic deal. I gather that Napolean had about 8 "squadrons" of cavalry; each group mounted on horses of the same color. If I'm not mistaken it was Saint Evan Connell (QC's title, mind you) who wrote GAC knew of the colors and decided to effect such a change with the 7th.

Scott Bono: We do the same thing today with numbers and symbols on armored vehicles, particularly geometric symbols.
