New to the board so be easy on me Looking to for information about Monahsetah and Yellowbird. Is there any true evidence that GAC slept with Monahsetah and fathered a child by the name of Yellow Bird? I was always under the impression that its mainly hearsay and there is no real 'proof'. Any help would be appreciated.

Panther, for your information:
Monahsetah (in Sioux, Meotzi; The New Grass That Shoots In The Spring; Mary [Isaac]) (F)—Originally from the southern branch, but now living with the Northern Cheyenne. One source says her father was the chief Black Kettle who was killed at the Washita, 27 Nov 1868. Gail Kelly – Custer claims she was half-white, her father being Chief Little Rock and her mother being a doctor of Irish descent [“My Heritage, My Search,” Custer and His Times, Book Five, p. 277]. According to Kelly – Custer, she eventually married a white man named John Isaac. She had a seven-year-old son—Yellow Bird or Yellow Hair—born out of wedlock and rumored to be the son of Custer. Meotzi, however, was already seven months pregnant when she met Custer, and the child was born a full-blood Indian, despite light streaks in his hair. There was speculation of a second child, but no evidence [Michno]. According to Kelly – Custer the child was given to and raised by George Custer’s half-brother, Brice Custer. In Pennington, Joseph White Cow Bull confirms the story of a romance with Custer and the birth of the son, Yellow Bird. Much of this appears apocryphal, however. White Cow Bull’s yarns are barely believable under the best of circumstances, and Gail Kelly – Custer’s claims to be a direct descendant of George Custer are met with vehemence unrivaled even in this contentious arena.
Yellow Bird (aka, Yellow Hair)—(Southern Cheyenne). Son of Monahsetah; rumored to have been the child of Custer. Probably no more than seven years old at the time of the battle.
Best wishes, Fred.
