......would be forced, but there are similarities. I'm here in a bicycling capital, and people are either die hard worshipers or long time enemies.
Bicyling is corrupt and has been forever; Armstrong cheated; so did most others; he was still the best; no, some years others were; it's a witch hunt; no, doping is real; he failed drug tests in the past; no, the results were withheld. It's a conspiracy, Armstrong is a god.
You can sub standard issue Custer arguments in there.

I will not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those that do. Sounds pretty old fashioned in the world we live in, but it is and must remain the code of honorable men and it does not matter if it's Custer or Armstrong, or anyone we may know. Honor and integrity are like virginity, once lost never really regained short of redemption, and redemption is a matter of personal choice.

They share the same name "Armstrong".
Lance Armstrong did what everyone did at that time. He said we fight all with the same weapons(doping) and that is correct. Ok, many others were blocked from the sport but not Lance Armstrong.
It was my sport too for ten years and i know how it works. Normaly you get a better cyclist over a long time and maybe you reach the top some day. The problem with doping is that some cyclist will be a bit better with doping while others had a performance explosion with it.
Lance Armstrong was one of those actually medium class cyclists who had a performance explosion from medium to over the top rider from one year to the next. He is in row together with Marco Pantani and Michael Rasmussen for eg. The strongest performance explosion is noticed allways at the time trial. Marco Pantani was a good climber but worst at time trial for years. In the next year he was a time trial god and won easy. Effects like this you could notice by only a few cyclists and Lance ArmstrongĀ“s body was obvisionly one of best objekts for doping. He became a super climber and also a super time trial specialist in a very short time thanks doping.
But Lance made the best out of it because he had the right head for a leader racer. Compared to Jan Ullrich for eg, who was(and he still is one) a boy in the Peloton, Lance was a man and he knowed exactly what he did.
After all Lance Armstrong was a very good racer to me and a smart business man.
