The root cause of Wounded Knee was Indians dancing.

For anyone still following this thread I'd like to revive it. Today I was called a white supremacist for creating paintings of all the dead of Little Bighorn. That means I am including all the Indians killed, but this element was left out the equation by the guy who made the comment. I am, according to him, "spitting in his face" every time I post a painting or comment about the battle. He's half Indian, but apparently doesn't identify with his white half. Oh well. my advise is to say F it when it comes to people like your fan And such grand advice that is! Fred warned me last year that I would have to develop a thick skin if I planned to show my paintings publicly. J

Fred had a lot of friends here, mainly because he would help any one any way he can, didn't matter what the subject matter, if he could help he would.
You could say his friends on this board were the original Wagner group "lol"

I think the saying is: "Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. " BUT, just because you listen to the story doesn't mean you believe it, right?
I've noticed that people are quite territorial and hotheaded about this topic, which is unfortunate because it gets in the way of discovery and discussion. I've met a few moderate types but everybody wants to be right, which is impossible.
Do you have any idea why the Nat'l Park Service calls it the Little Bighorn rather than the Little Horn, which I now notice whereas my eyes went right past it before.

I believa the change in name addressed conservative sensibilities such as Little Richard, and have involved regard for widows, wives and the angelic half of the US populations sense of modesty.
There is little but go big with this battle since reason eventually overcomes all unless reason is not the objective. Discussion blossomed on the boards and has evoled into new formats and although they are not particularly for me, it is brilliant for the chatting classes, marketing and influencers. It is a progress and one bringing many concerns. Rosebud was pretty much on the money with self belief and ego needing to be balanaced but also there is fun and flippancy and that unfortunatelyy just often goes wrong.
Stick to your guns, be polite and clever if that helps, and get where you are going. If you are hoping for admirers then you have them but it will not grow on boatds. Facebook, X, and the others beckon. What these battle boards do is pool niche interest and knowledge together in remarkable celebration. Just smile and smile again and again. It's very good for facial toning and is why smilers always look good.
Regards.

Smile and nod. It gets you through a lot. Jenny I have found the same to be true with shaking your head violently and looking horrified. At least in cities like Amsterdam and Prague. And Porsgrunn. Noggy

So, those of you who happen to be in Boise on Oct 7/8 I'll be showing the portraits I've been working on at the open studios weekend.
