hi i have a 1868 us 7th calvary belt buckle authenticated by bonumas of london i was wandering how rare this is WOW!!! I didn't even know the 7th Cav was in England in 1868. That makes it a rarity. Now you just need to have bonumas of london authenticated. I have no idea what it is worth but get it insured by Lloyds of London for $2500 and you are probably covered by multiples. bc

Welcome, ksknoxie!
BC was having a little fun with you. To be serious, it's hard to say how rare it is. Perhaps a collector will have some insights for you. I took a quick look online, and I would guess its value is in the US$200 range at best.

Yep, the skeptic comedian here. Post a pic of it though. Based upon some stuff I've seen, I was going to guess $250 to $500 depending upon condition. $200 sounds about right. The better the condition, the more it is worth. If it looks too good then people will suspect it is a reproduction. I've never heard of balunus of london but you may want to pass the provenance on to an american company that is an expert here. What is the provenance by the way? Has to have some kind of provenance before someone could authenicate it. And to properly authenicate it, I would think they would have the research to know how rare they are.
Found at Washita? Found at Ft. Hays, Ft. Larned, Ft. Harker, Ft. Dodge, Ft. Zarah, Ft. Wallace, etc.? A buckle found at the LBH would draw some interest. Taken from Crazy Horse's gravesite? Have any soldier's initials on it other than the quartermaster markings?
Are you a KS boy or an Englander?
There may be a collector or two on this board that may want to deal with you.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows that no self respecting Scotsman would want to be confused with the English. Heaven forbid. However, then you should have gotten it authenticated by balunus of Aberdeen instead. Then you can get it insured by Lloyds of Aberdeen. I'm part Scot-Irish. Loughridge Clan started over on the west coast of Scotland before they moved to Ireland either through a potato famine or when I forget the name, but one of the kings that overthrew Ireland and gave land to the Scots. Then a potato famine in Ireland brought them to the US. I'm also part French-German from a mixed area in Alsace-Lorraine. France and Prussia took turns controlling it. And, as Sean Connery has always said when Lord Lovat and his Scottish 1st Commando Brigade approached: "It takes an Irishman to play the pipes." bc

KS, 2 ways that I know of. Email them to Diane or anyone else who has a place to upload pictures so you can then have a url from that site. Or set up your own account with photobucket or any of the other multitude of websites and forums that allow you to download the jpeg files so you end up with a url.
Then: I mainly use the last 30 posts to review posts and get to reply by. When I click on someone's post like yours to respond I click on the topic name at the top to get a quick reply box. Then type in the url on a separate line of my message. At the bottom of the quick reply box it mentions a shortcut to quick reply and shortcut to post message but I've never tried them. (alt+S to post a message) Or else if you respond to the post by clicking on the reply button in that post, then you get a reply box that allows you to use emoticons and there is a special place to put the url which brings up the picture in your post by clicking on the picture tab (between the globe and email tab) in the add tags section. This puts a double img with brackets around each img. Then put your picture url between the two bracketed img(s). (I think anyway) I believe Wy Man, Conz, and others has a place to download their photos. If you right click on any image, you can get the url for their website.
hope this helps. Guess my early photos I've emailed to Diane. But I do frequent a non-lbh forum that allows downloading of pics in a special place.
