Diane:
Oh Sweet Mistress of the Boards, Goddess of the Universe and Protector of those undeserving souls who populate or haunt this forum, will you inform this unworthy soul of the location of this plaque and monument so that he might attempt to take a few photographs of same on his visit to Glasgow next year?
Gordie still learning the art of the suck-up, but hopeful of a response..................

You'll be pleased to find these are items standing tall and proud on display for all to see in the beautiful town of Dennistoun. I may be there myself with my little Jack Russell Terrier (Nikki) so she can lick the plaque to clean to a sparkling state only hoping her dainty Little tongue don't become hard frozen the to the plaque itself!

Gordie - "...still learning the art of the suck-up, but hopeful of a response..."
I'd say you're a natural.

Philip:
Welcome - thrice welcome - to these boards, which, as you might have guessed, are populated by all sorts of undesirables like Brokensword and myself.
Is beautiful Dennistoun close by Glasgow, a suburb or district, perhaps? They got any good fish and chip joints there?
Thanking you in anticipation of your kind indulgence and a prompt reply, I beg to remain, your humble and sometimes obedient fellow board member [that sounds dignified, what?],
Gordie

Gordie & M - I went to Google Earth and checked for you, Dennistoun is ~20 miles from Glasgow City. It's probably the port city that BBWWS returned home from. My wife and I were there about 8 years ago but that's before I even knew my Great Grandfather George C. Crager had been there ~110 years before us, otherwise I would have put up my on plaque for the old boy! We drove throughout Scotland from Edinburgh ,Glasgow north-west over into Wales and back down to Devon. All that country is lousy with Fish & Chip joints, maybe more than old castles, so Gordie you'd be pleased . . .

Philip:
Thank you muchly for the info. Am I correct in assuming that you live in Devon? Might I ask where? I'll be in the neighbourhood next year on my "grand tour" and would love to meet you, if possible, even if only to cadge a pint. We could always discuss the fights at LBH aa a last resort.
Regards,
Gordie

Gordie - It must be that British accent I write in? Well wished I live in Bovey Tracy or Lustleigh (great Pubs & Pub Meals) but I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains south of San Francisco. If your going to be in Devon next year see if you can book a few nights in the Willmead Farm-B&B outside of Bovey Trace, you can check place out on the net, very unique place.

Dennistoun is within the city of Glasgow. It is a mainly residential area about two miles east of Glasgow city centre. The statue is located at the intersection of Whitehill Street and Finlay Drive.

Thanks for that information. Perhaps I'll get to see it one day.
