I'm curious about one write-up for the Volvo "Hometown Heroes" contest: Harold Stanton of Hardin founded a non-profit organization to preserve and protect one of the most recognized historical sites in the world, the battlefield where the Battle of the Little Big Horn took place. Under Stanton's guidance, the committee raised nearly $6 million for the cause. As a result, the land where the battle took place was preserved and gifted to the United States for all to enjoy and learn about a historical American moment.
I know that Mr. Stanton is connected with Jim Court's battlefield preservation group, but doesn't this blurb makes it sound as if he gave the current NPS property to the government? He must be older than Fred! ;D The last I heard was that the NPS didn't want to take the preservation committee land. What gives? article: biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070109/latu020.html?.v=87
