This shot is on the summit of Conical Hill looking back toward Crook's Hill. My tripod is sitting next to the concrete marker. When Crook occupied the hill in the distance some 1200 yards away marked the pine trees, the Indian Warriors moved to this location. the date of the battle was June 17, 1876.

Lawtonka, thanks for sharing the picture from Conical Hill. I've been to the Rosebud several times and made it as far as Packers' Hill or Crook's headquarters and looked across at Conical Hill. Your picture gives a great perspective I've never seen before. Thanks a heck of a lot. How'd you get there?

Thanks for the kind words bubbabod,
I parked the car on the auto loop and walked the rest of the way. When you get to Crooks Hill, (headquarters) just keep on walking. I would reccommend this to anyone, the hike is worth it, but make sure you carry plenty of water and watch out for the rattlers. The serenity is unmatched. This is certainly a pristine battlesite.
