Well, just me and Melani, I guess ... www.alincolnbookshop.com/html/lincoln_civil_war.htmScroll down a bit until you hit the headline "He died with Custer" -- to see a brand-new Keogh letter we knew nothing about! It's from very early in the CW, when he's still on Shields' staff. Nothing earth-shattering, as it's only an order, except just as a glimpse of his official style. Interesting that he seems to be operating entirely independently; there's no "The Brigadier-General commanding requests me to say" or anything. For non-Keogh fans, there's plenty of other great stuff on this site too: Lincoln, various CW figures. Nice.

$3,850!!! I can't help but wonder what Keogh would think of that price!
(I care, too, Elisabeth!)

Amazing, isn't it. When you think of all the much more important papers he so cavalierly decreed should be burned after his death ... He must be spinning in his grave.
Love your McGillicuddy quote!

Love your McGillicuddy quote! Chuck read that to me one night while he was reading The Killing of Crazy Horse. I thought it was great but, unfortunately, the signature block doesn't allow enough room for the source.
