The current (June 2006) issue of American History magazine has a couple of very nice articles about the Little Bighorn--one on the battle itself, and one more generally about Custer and his place in American history and folklore. There is also a piece of Two Moon's account to Hamlin Garland. The article describing the battle is very clear and concise, and seems like a good synopsis for somebody who is interested but really doesn't know anything about it.
Of course, there are bound to be things about details of movement and point of view that somebody will take exception to, but as we have pointed out many times, that is really the fun of it.
There are also good articles on the Lincoln assasination and West Coast shanghaiing--all together, a very nice issue.
