This single episode of Twilight Zone was probably the most exciting thing I remember seeing as a kid. To me it was the first real glimpse of the Battle of the Little Bighorn and the Custer Monument.......or at least what I though was it until 1984.
Remember it? Can you remember the three charactors Wm. Connors, Michael McCluskey and Richard Landsford? I have always admired how the show ended as these three soldiers decided to pitch in, although leaving behind their tank, to help Custer. What a perfect ending to have thier names on the monument.
Notice their was a mountain behind this hollywood version of the monument. One thing for sure, for many years I had to wonder if their three names were actually names of soldiers who were there....not ! But very intertaining.

Ya know, I caught the very tail end of that last year. It's been so many years since I saw it in full, I can't remember much about it. So they left their tank behind. What did they take with them? I keep looking for this show on TV and haven't been able to find it.

I DVR'd that the other day. Recently, my wish list caught the old Time Tunnel episode, though I was extremely disappointed that they didn't show any battle scenes. And I have the Custer/Wayne Maunder 2 hour movie on Little Big Horn that recently was saved for me. Legend of Custer, I think its called.

Bubbabod: The shows ends with them going over a ridge (Custer Ridge?) and just carrying their handguns.
Best bet to catch it is to go to the Sci-Fi website and it lists shows for roughly 6 months out.

You can get it on DVD, Volume 19 of the Twilight Zone Collection. Good place to get it is on Ebay if you don't want to buy th ewhole set. I have seen this volume on there at a very reasonable cost.

Wasn't the closing line said by their commanding officer:
"They should've takin' the tanks with 'em"

Don't watch television much so I never saw it though I know of it. But did you know there is a whole book of that story? I have a copy and read it years ago. It takes place 'from' a more modern time so the tank is a bit more powerful (an M-60,A1 I believe), and to complicate matters a bit, one of the crewmen is an Amerind. So there is a little bit of conflict of interests there. Can't recall the title off hand--have to go look.

I just went and dug out the book. The name of it is "The Sign of the Thunderbird". I don't remember much about it at all except I can tell it's quite a bit more involved than the TV story...maybe I'll read it again--after I get through the stack that's already by my chair......
