The very fine BBC TV documentary series "The Queen's Cavalry" has -- hooray! -- just been released on DVD in the UK: www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000E5KPDI/qid%3D1142495124/026-0825596-2682051Oddly, Amazon lists the region coding as "0". This may mean it's multi-region, in which case it'll be fine on US DVD players, or may mean they don't know(!). Anyway, I aim to lay hands on a copy as soon as I can, and will let you all know what the actual labelling says. But I do most strongly recommend this. It's an inside look at the training of a bunch of brand-new cavalry recruits, almost all of whom (like the 7th's) had never ridden before they joined. Gives a lot of insight into what new troopers are up against, the skills they have to learn, the bonding between trooper and horse, etcetera. Quite apart from which, it's a joy to watch as entertainment. (It's not one of those silly pick-a-hate-figure documentaries; just low-key, sensible, and nice.) You'll love it, I promise!
