Anyone old enough to remember the episode of 'Have Gun-Will Travel' where Paladin arrives on last stand hill right after the battle? He was suppose to warn Custer or something along those lines.

I actually TVO'd the LBH episode of the Time Tunnel this summer. The show was on one of the Encore channels every Saturday morning. I had all but two or three episodes but they were taking up too much space. I just ordered the first set from Amazon.com a few days ago. I loved the show as a kid and it was one of the things that started my love of history. While certainly not historically accurate, it was entertaining and made you want to find out more about some of the subjects they touched upon. It is too bad that the show's idea hasn't been reused, with more historical accuracy, to introduce today's children to the fun of studying history.
Death of a Myth was originally planned as story where I was going to send a history professor back in time to the LBH and tell the story through the main character's eyes. I may work on it again someday.

Scout
yes, I am old enough to remember that episode.
And the "Bronco" episode about Ghost Payroll, where he comes across the *buried* 7th cavalry (they tell us the Indians did the burying! Uh huh...)
And the Cheyenne 2 parter GOLD, GLORY AND CUSTER. And a custer episode of Yancy Derringer. And I have a copy of a Wyatt Earp episde that features Benteen after the battle.
And I got the DVD of TT in this week.
Best of the lot of TV Custers out of that era was the BRANDED 3 parter with Robert Lansing as Custer. He really captured a lot of Custer's slightly world-weary yet still boyish character (if you ignore the smoking and drinking...why DO they do that?)

Any of you ever see the Dr. Quinn version of Custer? Absolutely horrendous.

I collect video Custers. So I have seen and still have the Dr Quinn Custer episodes. The first one is actually still the best (there were 4, one a 2 parter) The uniform was right for the *period* except that Custer was never stationed in Colorado...
I would maime to get all of the GRAY GHOST episodes.

Scout, thanks for finally solving the problem of with whom the fault lies for Custer's defeat: Paladin! I used to watch that faithfully as a kid growing up.
