Major Verling Kersey Hart 7th/5th Cavalry

Hey fellas, I'm looking for any information on Major Verling Kersey Hart who served with the 7th Cavalry for the 1873 Yellowstone cammpaign and the 1874 Black Hills expedition commanding Company C. In December of 1875 he was promoted to Major and sent to take command of battalion of the 5th Cavalry. I'd appreciate anything you might have on him. Thanks.
