Yo Freberg Fan, Er, Charles E. Merkel, Jr., ts the lucky s.o.b. married to our revered Board Administrator, the Goddess Diane, and more usually known as Chuck. The book is not known to me, but if it is available I will try to get it because Chuck produces unbiased, carefully researched work and information about Weir is scarce. Hunk

I don't know why it would be "In today's mail" because it's never been officially published. That is Chuck's dissertation as prepared for Florida State University, the tome that will some day -- perhaps in my lifetime -- be rewritten as a commercial book. Warning: One of our copies of it has about (conservatively) 50 million sticky notes peeping out of the pages, so you might want to forego reading it for now.
Funny: One of our LBHA acquaintances ordered the dissertation and sent Chuck an unsolicited critique. One of the things he mentioned as being a mistake was the second spelling of "pacs" on the infamous Cooke note. He said the "k" was left out, and this from a guy who gets published regularly and is one of CSS' "experts."

Hi Diane: "In today's mail" because I ordered a copy of the dissertation from ProQuest/UMI. If the "50 million sticky notes" represent additions and enhancements, then I will be eagerly awaiting the tome's birth. Even in its present no-frills format I found it to be interesting and informative...and well written; nothing dry or academic (in the boringly didactic sense) about it. Nicely done! Funny: One of our LBHA acquaintances ordered the dissertation and sent Chuck an unsolicited critique. One of the things he mentioned as being a mistake was the second spelling of "pacs" on the infamous Cooke note. He said the "k" was left out, and this from a guy who gets published regularly and is one of CSS' "experts." So I suppose I shouldn't point out that, on the bottom of page 8, "YEARS" is misspelled as "Y'RS" and "AGE" as "AE"? (For those without a program, said location reproduces a grave marker inscription which includes the line, "AE 42 Y'RS") Er, Charles E. Merkel, Jr., ts the lucky s.o.b. married to our revered Board Administrator, the Goddess Diane, and more usually known as Chuck. Yeah...I actually knew that. I was just trying (though apparently not hard enough--or was it too hard) to be "funny". Nobody seemed to recognize a book/author I had posted about earlier: tinyurl.com/5qotxcSo, when yesterday's mail brought Dr. Goddess' work, I thought I'd post about a book/author that I knew at least a few folks would recognize. *Next* time, I'll do better (as I slap my forehead)... cefil

Thanks very much for the compliments about his dissertation. I got the joke but didn't get that you received it. I thought perhaps the microfilm company was advertising it somewhere. I've been curious about you from your first appearance here. Now I'm more so since most people wouldn't know about that company. You've really got me wondering (to quote Butch), "Who IS that guy?"

My network of informants (kindly supplied by Big Willy Bakel) tell me that Chuck will never manage to get this work published because some brazen hussy keeps distracting him with her female wiles and feminine charms. Goddess, I only hope you can find out who she is. H (All done in the best possible taste)
