Does anyone have John Carroll's series of limited edition booklets? Our set is packed up right now.
The one I am interested in is about Custer's horseshoe. It may even be called that. If you would be willing to make a copy of it for a good cause, please let me know ASAP.

I have checked out the 9 booklets I hve but there is nothing in them about 'Custer's Horseshoe'. I don't have Nos. 1,2 or 3, but I believe Elisabeth may have. She is currently taking a break in France but I hope she will pick up on this thread when she returns and answer your question if she can.
Happy Birthday for yesterday Goddess and sorry I missed it - medication making me more dozy than usual!
Hugs.

Thanks, Hunkie. You aren't the first to sleep through my birthday!
I hope Elisabeth is having a great time in France!

Yes, thanks, Diane, a lovely time ... A belated Happy Birthday to you!
Well, I've been through all my booklets and can find nothing. But I only have the newer Tom O'Neil reprints, which follow a different numbering system ... so it may be that if one could track down Nos. 1, 2 & 3 in the original editions, which I believe are what Hunk has, that's where it would turn out to be?
Which horseshoe topic is it, incidentally? There's the horseshoe-fixing (or something) device he patented -- a caulk? -- of which he then sold on the manufacturing rights to a couple of pals in Monroe; and there's his possibly iffy deal with the Goodenough horseshoe people. Both are fascinating stories, and I'm sure I've read fairly substantial accounts of both somewhere on the web ... In fact, didn't we have a thread about them, and his commercial enterprises in general, a while ago? Probably at least two years back. Just thinking that if there was a link to the web stories, sources might have been mentioned somewhere along the way, which might help pin down which booklet it was ...
Have just had a look at the current Arrow and Trooper list, on the off-chance that they've got around to reprinting the relevant piece; can't see anything there that looks like it, though.

I'm not sure which topic it is. Chuck remembers such a booklet but, as I said, much of his library is packed up at the moment. The person asking for a copy of the booklet is a publisher of a magazine dedicated to horse foot care. (There's a magazine for everything in this country!) We corresponded a couple of years ago (probably when the horse hoof candelstick thread was going) and she recently contacted me again. She described it as the "John Carroll pamphlet about Custer and a horseshoe" if that helps.
Welcome home and thanks for the birthday wish!
Diane
