Doug, my take is that they are excellent resources. Cozzens did a fantastic job of both locating the contemporary resources he uses and providing in-depth overviews from the historical perspective.
Five volumes? I only have four: Apacheria, Northwest, Southern Plains and Northern Plains.
Best of wishes,
Billy

Billy, Vol 5 was just released; _The Army and the Indian_. I have the Apache and just bought the Southern Plains book....over 700 pages and thicker than the Internal Revenue Code!

Billy, Vol 5 was just released; _The Army and the Indian_. I have the Apache and just bought the Southern Plains book....over 700 pages and thicker than the Internal Revenue Code! Please, don't mention taxes-especially at this time of year. It draws the same visceral knee-jerk reaction as liberalism draws from CSS Thanks for the info, I will wander over to B&N to see what they want for it. If too much, will wait for a few months as I still have to completely finish the others. As a matter of fact, I have been side-tracked from Indian Wars stuff this week on other books: Fire on the Beach about the first (and only) all black Life-Saving Service Station in the nation-which was located on my old stomping grounds of the Outer Banks, specifically Pea Island and a book that will warm the cockles of the hearts of all the Custerites, Custer and His Wolverines. Both were/are exceptionally good books. Billy

Thanks, offered by my Military book club, I can get all five volumes for $195.00. Does that sound reasonable?

Thanks, offered by my Military book club, I can get all five volumes for $195.00. Does that sound reasonable? Doug Doug, it depends. Back when I was a member in the Military History book club, they offered reprints which, while readable, lessens any future appreciation for collectors. Whether that is still applicable, I have no idea. I went over to Barnes and Noble and here is what I found. Vol . 4 & 5 are full price, $69.95 ea. (62.95 if a B&N member). Vol. 1 (Apacheria) can be had used in "very good shape" for 52.50 or acceptable for 36.75. Vol. 2 (Pacific Northwest) used in "like new" condition for 17.06. Vol. 3 (Southern Plains) used in "very good" for either 20.48 or 26.19 (mostly VG+). Check Amazon also to compare prices. Can someone else who collects books chime in regarding the collection aspects? Best of wishes, Billy
