Tell me you don't actually believe Custer was assassinated. Custer and the 7th Cavalry were defeated in open combat. They brought their "B" game that day, the Sioux and Cheyenne brought their "A" game.

Even if there are still a lot of dark sides, I think Custer lost his battle first for the number on the field, second for a lack of coordination that was not his fault, third, for a great number of unlucky circumstances.
Never thought personally that he was assassinated, and I look at such books in the same way I look at the ones insulting the General. They are simply using him.
