Howdy,
I visited the Custer Battlefield about 15 years ago and brought home a copy of the Official National Park Handbook (#132). It is a wonderful book and I have read through it quite often over the years. I have one question I would like to ask concerning this work though I'm not sure an answer will be forthcoming. On page 94 there is a photo which is captioned "Custer Hill looking north from Weir Point." I know this might be difficult but is there anyone who might be able to explain exactly where Custer Hill is in that picture. I cannot make it out at all and I have tried many times......cannot get a handle on the scale, I quess. Well, thought it was worth a shot though I know I may have to wait until my next visit to get it straightened out.
Thanks a lot (if anyone wants to give it a shot),
Griff

I understand its 3 miles plus away from Weir Point. Exactly why no one on Weir Point at the end of the Custer fight saw anything except dust, smoke, and maybe a few Indians and horses on the edges of the fight's perimeter.

gwolf, walt, slightly off subject, but have you seen the photograph taken in 1901 by Lee Moorehouse which is on the Friends of the little bighorn site.Something a little chilling would you say. Another was taken in 1995,by friends member Jim Burst, which includeds the road through Weir point www.friendslittlebighorn.com/Weir_point.htm

I may have, but I've looked at so many. Give me a hint where I can find it and I'll take a look.
