This was posted in the Take a Break! section, so I thought I'd cross-post it here. Please help Curt if you can. How do. Just discovered this site, and it's great! My name's Curt, and have been a Custerphile since I was a kid, which was a long time ago.. Would anybody know of any Indian Wars Cavalry reenactment groups, preferably mounted in the San Diego, Orange or Riverside County areas of southern California? I've had to take a ten year hiatus from this great activity, and would really like to join up again. I haven't been able to contact my old outfit, 7th Cavalry Troop E, which was based in Colton Ca. So hopefully someone knows if they are still around, in particular the Troop C.O. Cisco Lopez, a great guy and cavalry historian.. If not perhaps another outfit in the vicinity..
Thanks and I look forward to being a member of your board. Curt

There use to be a group that would show up at "Military Trough the Ages" down in San Diego. They would bring horses and all. Last time I saw them was the mid 90s.

Funny, I used to be a member of the old 'E' Company probably 35, 40 years ago, back when they met in Buena Park, and Calabassas, Calif. The last contact I had with any of them was through Phil Spangenberger from 'Guns and Ammo' Magazine (where he was the black powder editor)--I think he's retired now, but maybe you can get hold of him through the magazine publishers.

Unfortuantely, the scene has been pretty dead out here in Southern California in recent years. Here's one link: www.geocities.com/cavbugler/The site doesn't appear to have been updated in some time. For awhile I managed to get an Indian Wars infantry unit started but unfortunately, it died due to lack of interest. Cisco Lopez, a great guy and cavalry historian.. If not perhaps another outfit in the vicinity..
I know Cisco but he hasn't been to many events lately and when I've seen him, he's usually doing later periods.
