Hi Geir, are these the maps you are after? <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button><button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button><button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button><button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> Ian Hi Ian These are really good, but it was just a simple text bit with the different distances between different key positions at the battlefield, showing yards or miles between say LSH and Reno Hill, Weir Point and the village etc. I know it is/was on this board once, probaby posted bye Senor Fred, but I can`t find it for some reason. But again, nice maps and I`ll save them for sure, as I too like maps a lot! Cheers Geir

these maps are from Fred's book, "Strategy of Defeat". At some point, I should try to get all the maps from all my books scanned. I often find myself looking for certain maps, pictures etc without remembering quite where they are from, and it takes time. Like in this instance; I have SFD but no way I remembered the maps were from there. I know smarter people than me already have scanned and saved stuff so they can avoid looking through X amount of books in order to find that one thing. Will try to make a Library of Maps file on my computer one of these days. All the best, Noggy

Hi BW, I was lucky enough that a American bloke sent me a copy over for free, I am sure it was Duane who was a member of these boards. It was a lovely gesture. If you ever want any maps I can send you some, I don't have loads but quite a few. Ian

Yan, I believe they are in "Strategy" because each map shows the times to the minute at various locations. Fred did that in Strategy.

If someone wants, I can post one or two of the Strategy maps, depending on which ones you guys want. These are the maps I am doing nowadays... Timeline Map.tiff (646.15 KB) Best wishes, Fred.

The maps originated in the first edition of the Atlas of the Sioux Wars from September 1992, Dr. William Glenn Robertson, Dr. Jerold E. Brown, Major William M. Campsey, and Major Scott R. McMeen. This work is difficult to come by these days with a second edition byCharles D. Collins, Jr. with Consulting Editor, Dr. William Glenn Robertson; having superceded the earlier work. Online here The original work came out of the Combat Studies Institute, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College which is sited where Capt. T.H. French was initially buried. The original work had Custer's command approaching the river and onto Blummer's ridges ala Gray who had published re-destruction book two years earlier. Things have moved along in the ensuing 30 years and it sees today that Custer's command ay have issed the village entirely and gone looking for it much farther downriver. Move with the times.
