Hi. I thought I should introduce myself since I'm new to the forum. I live in the eastern part of South Dakota but I'm currently working at Mt Rushmore for the 2020 season. I have been interested in learning more about the LBH as well as about GAC and family. I just got Gregory Michno's book "The Mystery of E Troop" and I just started reading it. I was wondering if any of you have ideas about other books I should read regarding GAC and LBH? Thanks in advance for any ideas you have for me.

Welcome! Thanks for introducing yourself and sharing the story about the visitor to Yellowstone -- funny!
The first book I read about Little Bighorn was Son of the Morning Star by Evan Connell. It's very readable and serves as a good primer for cavalry life at the time. A Terrible Glory by Jim Donovan is great and is also very readable. When you are ready for more details and analysis, Fred Wagner's book, The Strategy of Defeat at the Little Big Horn is excellent. If you really get into it, you'll want to have at least one reference book at the ready, such as Wagner's earlier book, Participants in the Battle of the Little Big Horn, or Men with Custer, edited by Ron Nichols.
Best wishes,
Diane

Hello there The Mystery of E Company is not really a beginner`s book, so I assume you have a decent level of knowledge about the battle. I find Michno`s Lakota Noon a far better book, personally. I`ve never felt a need to read in-depth bio on GAC, but from all I`ve heard, "Custer's Trials: A Life on the Frontier of a New America# by Stiles is supposed to be a really good one. Might be worth checking out for you. All the best, Noggy

Thanks to you both for the warm welcome. 😀
Diane, thanks for the suggestions. I will check them out. I know some about Custer and LBH but not much. I didn't even know his brothers, brother-in-law, and nephew were killed there. I just learned that from reading posts at this forum.
The book I got "The Mystery of E Troop is one that I picked up in the bookstore here at Mt Rushmore. After looking through it, I realized I needed some suggestions from you all to give me a better understanding.

VanGrrl57 vvx Books about the battle in general tend to be either way to general and aimed at a wide audience, or of little use for anyone who already hasn`t studied it for a while. I think I started with "A Terrible Glory" by James Donovan. It`s well written, and a fairly light read which when you go more in depth won`t really match up with the works of experts, but a soft start is usually not a bad idea when beginning on a new subject. At least in my experience, it might be different for other people ofc All the best, Noggy
