edavids, a somewhat long time member of this board has passed. He was a gentleman, a contributor, history buff, and he cared about this board. He has been battling cancer for two years. Was last on the board on 7/08/18. www.forevermissed.com/ernest-david-staveley/#about He passed on 8/12/18.
David while fighting his fight, he took time out to help with mine, I thank you David. I know we only met once, face to face, but, your family is blessed to have had you. Your memory will be cherished by this clown forever.
Regards, Tom

David was well educated on many subjects, the Custer Campaign being one. He was a devoted Grandfather and a fine Christian Gentleman, who will be sorely missed. Regards Dave

I am so terribly sorry to hear this... David and I exchanged PMs all the time and the last I heard was the cancer had halted its growth... I guess not.
I will miss him greatly... if one can have a friend only through the ether of the Internet, then I had a true and dear friend with David Staveley. Like others before him, I shall miss him greatly and think of him often. The best paean one can give is that someone was a good man... David Staveley was a damn good man.
Best wishes, Fred.

David Staveley was a good member of this board; and a good man. Calm, rational, unruffled he was a calming influence.
It is a tradition of Special Forces to make an annual toast to our lost brethren.
Gentlemen and Ladies: I propose a toast.
To our fallen comrades.
