Hi all,
Sorry to intrude but I am rather excited by this, I am there in June for what may be a once in a lifetime trip (It's a long way from Stockport UK). I'll be taking the Richard Fox, Wagner (of course!) and maybe Gordon Harper books. To say I'm looking forward to it is the understatement of the decade. I hope it takes my understanding of LBH to a new level.
My wife seems quite keen for me to be going.....hmmmm.
Regards
Joe

Joe,
You are hardly intruding. I will be there as well, along with my buddies, from about the 18th (in Rapid City, South Dakota), to the 24th of June. The latter few days we will be spending at the LBH. If your schedule permits, you could seek us out. We will be the loudest and most boisterous, so it shouldn't be hard to find us.
Best wishes, Fred.

Steve, Then I guess we should invite Fred, for a smidge of decorum and maturity, at his age, he must be mature. I hope he brings his depends.

No Depends here, my boy. We have started our planning. We will be down to five this year. One fellow's wife is in some seriously trouble. Throw a prayer out there, will you?
Best wishes, Fred.

There's three of us coming out for the reenactment and all. We had originally tried to do both Rapid City and LBH, but it has gotten too complicated so very regretfully are probably foregoing Rapid City for just LBH. Don't know the exact dates yet, but we'll be there...somewhere.

Well the reenactment camp and Realbird bleachers aren't hard to find. Peter Thompson should be camped behind the bleachers. Does anyone know if Steve or Gary will be Custer this year?
This will be a long trip for me also. Going to Rapid City, LBH, and Canada before heading back to AZ.
Regards

If you have Donahue's map book he can sign it. If you don't have it than you can get at the NPS visitor center bookstore and have Mike sign it there. Last but not least you can get Fred's signature for his books. I would at least look at the Friends of the Little Bighorn site and see what the field trip is going to be . The reenactment is great and although not always true to detail its a great pageant. The bleachers face the battlefield and you can see MTF area from them. Your view is from the Indian side of the river. If you look up Henry Realbird on Facebook you can get more details. Regards Steve

It is now February 25, 2016, 9:14 AM, EST...
... and here is our planning, so far...
Only 5 of us will be able to make it this year. Our plans right now are to fly into Billings, MT, on Thursday, June 16. We will be staying in Billings that night. On Friday, June 17, we will be driving to Rapid City and we will stay there Friday night and Saturday night, and we will be attending the seminars and the banquet. On Sunday, June 19, we are planning to head to Fort Robinson.
From there, things are still uncertain, but we have plans to meet a retired college history professor and author at Fort Phil Kearny some time between the 22nd and the 24th. I anticipate being at the LBH certainly on the 24th and 25th, and if we can fit it in, even earlier.
The only other definite plans right now are to be in Billings on Sunday, June 26, and we will be flying out on Monday, June 27.
Best wishes, Fred.

Fred, While at Fort Robinson I'm sure you'll pay your respects to the Crazy Horse kill site. As you are well aware, Crazy Horse was a great Lakota leader of his people, even greater than...Sitting Bull. Pequod I made a pilgrimage to Fort Robinson on my trek round the States 4 years ago. Well worth the visit. A real sense of 'place'.
So envious of your planning to visit LBH in June. Beyond my bank balance I'm afraid but with you all in spirit. I will content myself with a visit to Waterloo (first time for a good few years), Bastogne and of course for us Brits this year it is the hundredth anniversary of the Somme that's grabbing our attention.
Best wishes,
Mark

For what it's worth, after confabbing with the other two, we decided to go for both. Train to Ft. Morgan, CO, Ft. Robinson on way to Rapid City, then who knows where on the way up to LBH...a week of wandering (probably the Rosebud battlefield on the way). Then driving the return trip to to the train in Ft Morgan. Figure might as well do the whole shot while we're there. We have the time.
