I also am seriously planning to make it to Montana in June. Can't make Rapid City but hope to be at LBH around June 20-24 or there abouts. I know QC highly recommends the hamburger at the trading post? or some where near by. I am willing, perfectly willing to sample any and all of AZ's concoctions. I look forward to putting faces with words. Don't forget we could make history with the 1st Annual Little Big Horn Open Golf Tournament to be held at Fort Custer Golf Club outside of Hardin, MT. Beer will be available for entrants. Regards Dave

I play Duck Commander golf. It's like being at a driving range but with a shotgun.

The rooms in Hardin fill up and you need to book early. The Super 8 is not bad and they have a house but I don't know how many rooms or rate.

Steve Oddly enough, during our duck hunting days we used to shoot golf balls that were thrown. Never thought about hitting the balls with a wedge and then shooting. Regards Dave

Planning on being at Rapid City, but whether I go on up to LBH is still up in the air.

I think anyone planning on being near the battlefield in June needs to get busy with reservations.
I would like to see how many people are thinking they are going and what type of activities.
Montrose has a plan for some activity
I attend the reenactment and have many horse friends there that participate in the event.
I think the Realbirds put on a good ride of around 1 hour and it traverses the private property between Custer battlefield and Rn0/Benteen NPS land.
Chip is having some surgery so I don't think horse events out the ranch are on the agenda this year. He could show us some drive areas.
I am interested on getting from Reno Creek through SFRC to the Rosebud.
I also do some Dutch oven cooking with isn't too bad.
I think the Friends will have a tour and I will go to it.
Fred will be around and I will meet with him.
Any thought?
Steve Andrews

While in Rapid I will spend at least one night in Deadwood. A number of other battlefields are close by the LBH. Cody is not a bad day trip for B.B. Cody Museum. Breakfast at Chuck's favorite Restaurant is always stimulating and a good meeting place and has a very good book store. They also have a waitress that sounds more like an Elk than an Elk, she does other impressions as well. As Steve says the Cavalry camp, reenactment folks, all are good folks. I look forward to returning beer to Gerry.
Steve, can we cook boneless leg of lamb or two if I bring them, what I am asking is the menu already complete? Or can you bring a hind from an Elk? Your SW. meals have always been top drawer.

Dates would be nice. I would hate to show up on one day only to find out everyone else was coming two days later or visa versa.

My buddies and I will probably fly into Billings on June 16, stay there overnight, then head to Rapid City on the 17th. We will attend the LBHA conference for only one day-- the 18th-- then head out on Sunday the 19th. We want to see Fort Robinson and once that is done we will head to the LBH. Because of family issues, I think there will only be five of us this year, and because of those same issues, one of us five will be arriving late... probably around the 20th.
Pompey's Pillar is another goal, but the LBH is still a priority, though I tend to doubt we will make all the 25th festivities. A little too crowded for our tastes. We will probably be leaving Billings for home on Monday, the 27th. That is the way it looks right now.
Best wishes, Fred.

Thanks! that gives me a great idea on what dates to target.
Quick check on the Hardin Super 8 which we stayed at before and really liked suggests that we might arrive on the 28th and check out on the 30th. I have one more chip that needs to fall in place before I can totally commit and hopefully will have an answer this week.
