Bill O'Reilly and/or his producer researcher are graduates of Hatch Prep School for Boys, followed by a degree from Philbrick University and a masters from the Ambrose School of fiction and fantasy.
Put his name on something and it becomes all about him and nothing about subject matter.

Made a point to watch this Custer episode inparticular, not impressed. In my opinion this whole series is lacking in historical accuracy as well as basic story telling.

Made a point to watch this Custer episode inparticular, not impressed. In my opinion it was the worst dreck I have ever seen regarding the LBH and George Custer. O'Reilly-- in my opinion-- is a goddam disgrace and "Smiling" Paul Hutton should be absolutely ashamed of himself. Man, you talk about a sell-out. You know, we complain about the besmirching of Reno and Benteen, but this program vilified George Custer and was as equally bad in that regard as any shots against the other two. I found that program a historical disgrace. Best wishes, Fred.

I watched the show tonight and made some notes. 1.Gist: Custer was driven by ego, O'Reilly said "unhinged" 2.Little attention was paid to Reno. 3.Crazy Horse had a name for Custer? - White Thief 4.The famous note was said to say - "Be fast" 5.O'Reilly made it sound like the Sioux and Cheyenne had firearm advantage because they had "newer and more advanced" weaponry.
I don't claim to have read everything about Custer but who are these people: Marcus Huff Thom Roff Chris Enss Marshall Trimble Hari Jones Donald S. Frazier
On the whole, I thought it awful. But that's just me. Best c.

Fred: I told you months ago on these very pages that Hutton had sold his soul to the highest bidder. You said I was being unfair. Do you still think that. Honor is like being pregnant, you either are or you are not. These is no middle ground or maybe.

I do not recall saying that, but if I did, I was wrong. I have always felt Hutton was a TV historian, greasing whatever opinion needed to be greased, without much regard for the truth. If some how I said something else, I was clearly not thinking properly. Having said that, I will restrict my comments to the subject I know: the LBH. I am no expert, but I could blow his ass out of the LBH water. Best wishes, Fred.

Mark,
You know a helluva lot more about the LBH than O'Reilly... believe me.
Best wishes, Fred.

There you go again Fred, talking to a dead man about your favorite subject. Is it really worth it?

Yes, O'Reilly really danced around the truth. Seems they get maybe one fact correct, but then make all kinds of assumptions and connections that aren't there. At least they got the fact Custer got killed correct. Other than that, I was picking the thing apart. My wife got real tired of hearing my "objections".
