Off the top of my head (scalped?), the major was buried at the national cemetery in LBH sometime in Lyndon Johnson's administration. He died in Washington DC, from an operation. He had worked at a federal clerical job and was buried originally at an unmarked pauper's grave. I'm sure they got the right remains (referring to the 1877 recovery of LBH officers) this time-NOT. Opinion: If Elizabeth Custer had been alive then, she'd have done all she could to prevent his burial at the LBH. Opinion: Reno followed orders and did the best he could. Tidbits: If you have read Evan Connell (rip), there would likely be no need to embalm him. (Connell lets you decide). One of LBJ's daughters spent a night at Calhoun Hill. Best, c.
