benteen,
It's neither religious nor political; it's criminal. But, fine.
Wild's heroic lunge for the high ground on innocents doesn't meld with his disappointment the US didn't nuke the Soviets when it had the chance, nor his observation that we were too chicken to do so and must assume blame for all that followed. Don't recall? Still up.
Just simple advantage to him: ingratiate, lie, betray, repeat.

Strange only half my dispatch posted. Perhaps even the system won't swallow my reasoning. But we will try again tomorrow.

DC, as wild knows, was indicating how the bomb was appreciated by those who would not now have to invade Japan. It saved a lot of American lives. But I'm not like wild, who advocated - advocated - nuking the Soviets by surprise before they could retaliate. It's still up, and Markland and others remember. As to 'innocent', if you go to war you kill innocents even without intent. But Japanese civilians enjoyed movies up to and through our participation in the war where newsreels before the main feature showed their heroic soldiers - who called the Chinese 'chinks' - beheading men, women and children or using them for bayonet practice. The audiences cheered. They also had to stand up when the emperor was on the screen. A single young girl with napalm burns in Vietnam did not get a similar reaction here. That's a difference. Insofar as Wild advocating bombing the Russians, I saw those posts too. I also saw Wild's wild-eyed advocacy that the US engaged in an extermination policy. That is why Wild is not my favorite color of the spectrum. Billy

DC [hail the bomb]has no qualms about the actual use of the bomb. .Among his qualifers for this form of retributation are viewing snuff movies and name calling.Compulsory viewing in all Japanese schools and maternity hospitals. Billy is upset about "extermination"but fails to post the quote.Perhaps I can help. How about the Polish officer corps and Katyn forest. How about the Polish edecuated classes amounting to hunreds of thousands of victims. The facts. Poland was by treaty an ally. It's contribution to the allied cause far greater than the combined effort of all other occupied countries.France actually sided with the Nazis. It soldiers fought side by side with US troops at Casino and were the units who eventually captured that position. The Polish para brigade covered the British withdrawal from Arnhem and its fighter pilots formed some of the best fighter squadrons in the battle of Britian. Stalin was of the same stuff as Hitler;both in the mass extermination business.Stalin like Hitler waged a war of aggression against Poland and divided the spoils with Hitler. A shift in alliances occurs ;Stalin is now an ally by assocition.Stalin stands by as the Warsaw rising is crushed. And at Yalta Roosevelt and Churchill betray Poland in a policy of appeasement. They fail to confront Stalin at a time when the US was the only super power with nuclear capibility. If the viewing snuff movies was the qualifier for a nuclear tap why not Mr Exterminator? Pragmatism. The policy was hit the little guy appease the big guy.

Billy We were discussing the selling out of Poland not the Indian wars. Of course I stand over my contributation to those debates. You are one of a few posters who actually contribute tangible material through your excellent research to our discussions. Please take some time out to view the UN charter on genocide and you might just understand my position.[and yes just in case anyone jumps in I know the UN did not exist at the time.] Regards

Hi Richard, the place Daniel stayed at was the ‘’Still Organ Park’’ Hotel, strange sounding name, but he said it was fine.
I hope you guys on the east coast of the U.S.A. are ok, going by the news over here it’s time for you to batten down the hatches, stay safe and good luck.

Hi Ian It's one word. About 1820 when they were mapping this country the sappers took the Irish place names and changed them to the Nearest sounding English name. Anyway I think that was the hotel in which we had our wedding reception.About 4 miles from where Im living now. Regards

On this post by you previous to the one I originally linked to, you reply to Lorenzo: "Posted - May 20 2004 : 09:19:56 AM Show Profile Hi Lorenzo He had the advantage of surprise That's not everywhere told Well if he did not have the advantage of surprise he was a bigger fool than I thought he was. That was not genocide. The killing of an entire etnic group is genocide. Nation building is not an excuse. But as you say we are far off the topic. Slan " Following Lorenzo's reply, you then reply: "Posted - May 20 2004 : 10:16:04 AM Show Profile Indians were not all killed. Neither were the Armenians,Jews,Tutsi,Cambodians, all these are examples of genocide. You seem to think that they were all killed and that there are no more indians on the world. Of all the crimes of genocide committed the one against the plains Indians was as near complete as you can get. Slan" I think the above absolutely proves that you are trying to wiggle your way out of your previous statement by throwing the "Poland" red herring into the mix. Granted, you did try that strategy later in the thread but the original statements by you prove definitively that you were initially speaking about the Indians. Billy

The drunk at the bar, lying, trying to start arguments, and as honest as a drunk at the bar trying to start arguments can be. Just sleazy, especially after the tongue bath he just attempted on Markland to win him over and prevent followup. Didn't work.
Good going Eastern Coloradoan whose pathetic Chiefs have yet to face the Wrath of Payton in celebration of our superior ........mountains. Something. Anyway, the Broncos are fun again. Also, better each week and scary good of late. Till the moment the Broncos lose, at which point I never cared for them, they are the True Reflection of Boulder Manhood. Look upon our offensive line, ye wimps, and Despair!

Richard, fancy that the same place you had your reception, its a small world.

I hope you power is back to normal soon Lew, I have never suffered a power cut as such, but I remember the electricians going on strike in the 1970s and the power station closed down every evening for a week or so leaving the town in darkness.

Tongue baths DC?You could give lessons. And your cowardly suggestion of lieing,no accusation just suggested.Just allowing sufficent wriggle room. You 're so full of it you squeek when walk.
Billy To clarify for all time.
I hold if that if the UN law was applied retrospectively the US would be guilty of genocide against the Indians.
At Yalta the Allies betrayed their ally Poland handing the country over to a brute every bit as muderious as Hitler.
